INCEPTION
DIRECTED BY CHRISTOPHER NOLAN: i have no idea how this idea came from. you need like a twisted imagination (almost beyond Michel Gondry) to create this story. it was arranged beautifully without making the audience felt confused (except for the nerve racking ending). Leonardo DiCaprio was for me, the perfect person to play Dom Cobb. he portrayed a man thorn between focusing on his job and battling his inner demon, in this case his deceased wife Mal (Marion Cotillard). The concept of every team's part were explained but it still confuses me (because it was related to film making), so i'm not gonna spoil it for you, go find out yourself. i do love the concept of how dreams can create a whole new word if you take control of it. how a dream can manipulate the brain and plant an idea when you wake up. however, if you cross the certain borders of deception, the world you've created would collapse, leaving the person you wanted to manipulate knows the truth that this is not real. enough of the mambo-jumbo, let's cut to the chase!

although i'll admit, i'm not a big fan of cgi but this one is an exception. it's a dream for crying out loud! the graphic was great and how they've used meta-physics and advance architecture technic to create a world similar but not the same. multi-layering the story with detail without mixing the dreams up. the casts was greatly bought! i mean, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, Michael Caine? Shots were taken beautifully, the sound was not overly done plus i love how they used Edith Piaf's song as their source of awakening (from the lucid dreams). the sets were remarkable and memorable especially the staircase scene where Arthur (J.Gordon-Levitt) shows Ariadne (E.Page) how paradox works.

and the bad! knowing that i'm used with doing continuity (or infamously known as the conty girl), i had several problems with it in this film. like come on! the scene where Cobb was found along the sea shore, and one of the guards went to the boss to show him what was on the man that they've found. he places the brass top on the table upside down, and when it cut to closeup, it was on the right side. and there's so many more (Ariadne's loose bun/night int, day ext/etc.)

overall, i strongly recommend people to watch it. some reviews i read gave this film "Kubrick doing Bond, or Gondry on a huge budget, but mostly pure Nolan".
